- Unhealthy BMI
- Physical inactivity
- Smoking
- Stress, anger, hostility
- Diabetes
- Age – arteriosclerosis
- Family history
Complications:
- Stroke
- Heart attack
- Hardening of the arteries
- Heart failure
- Kidney failure
- Eye damage
- Peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation)
